ABSTRACT This paper tries through a set of reflections to make the difference between the oasis city, the Saharan city and the city in the Sahara. The identification of each of these urban entities necessarily passes through the definition of the basic unit that is the "oasis" through a number of criteria that characterize it, and which reflects not only the rural dimension of oasis village that has acquired its stripes of city but also its contextual dimension. The process of formation and transformation towards the Saharan city seems to be based on the socio-economic changes that pass from the homogeneous society to the heterogeneous one and from the primary sector to the tertiary one, In this way, such a city in the Sahara is nothing but a foreign body in the Saharan environment, it is just a city like we meet in the North, located in an environment unsuitable for its architectural and urban designs. Keywords: The Oasis town, The Saharan city, The city in the Sahara, Saharan context. UR - https://revues.univ-biskra.dz/index.php/cds/article/view/3784
